Great pics of Tallinn. My family is from Estonia, Tallinn, and I am meeting my second cousins for the first time next week in Sydney. These photos have given me a real sense now of what it is like there.

Absolutely beautiful photographs!!! They brought back memories of a trip we took to the former Soviet Union in the early 70s, which included a day trip to Tallinn. I recall that we enjoyed a meal (all I actually remember is drinking vast quantities of ‘Jolly Cola’ which tasted like liquid gold to me after not being able to adequately hydrate while traveling in Russia proper) shared with a group of friendly and rowdy Finns who we learned made it a regular practice to travel the few miles across the Gulf of Finland in order to drink huge amounts of highly desirable Russian vodka – much cheaper in Tallinn and at that time unavailable in Finland. I remember they thought we were so funny being so thirsty and drinking all those little bottles of cola (we actually bought the joint out of it!), and we thought the Finns were equally funny drinking vodka like it was water and showing few signs of intoxication.
