from my recent weekend trip…

some of the shantytowns in the outskirts. the poverty in africa is just amazingly bad. i just coudln’t bear to hold up my camera and take a picture, it just didn’t feel right. the few i have are from the taxi on the way to airports n stuff.

it was hard to catch, but these are some rare snake eating birds!

climbinb sand dunes are harder than you think. this was a very small one- roughly 80m. i passed by the tallest sand dunes in teh world along the way though, which was really cool.

Johannesburg is probably teh scariest city i have ever been to. Haha, i didn’t even dare to pull out my camera a single time, and stayed in at night and ordered delivery…. intense! This picture is from the airport. haha.

it was a really cool experience going to zimbabwe. i walked across the border bridge from zambia. got stood up by a safari so ended up waiting on the zimbabwean side of the border talkgin to alot of locals, and even got a boy’s address. anyhow, its such a poor country and their economy is getting screwd, you see so many zimbabwean women walking back from zambia with these huge laods on their head. I asked one if i coudl try, and she just said i’d hurt myself. She also noted that its painful for them every time, not something they can get used to. quite sad.

never drive at night in namibia, i almost drove off a cliff!

victoria falls was beautiful, though the zimbabwen side (pics later).

so in the wet season this would all be part of the falls, but in teh dry season, the flow drops down to as little as 4% normal, so you can walk across the clifftop on the edge, where the water would normally be ripping by…. a cool expierence!

the waterfront. When I first saw it, it thought it immedietly reminded me of darling harbour in Syndey. But sorry aussies, thought cape town’s was so much better!

the westin. I think it’s the best westin I’ve stayed at so far, and also the only 5star westin I’ve been in, thought its not priced like a 5star hotel in the western world.

Chobe national park was amazing, so much wildlife.

what a great example of a symbiotic relationship. the buffalo hates the bugs around him, and the little white bird eats them. but its cute cus you always seethese huge buffalos with a little white bird (sometmies two) happily following it around hopping around here and there. haha.

but sometimes the little white birds aren’t eating enough bugs so they gotta get themselves all muddy

this is kasane, a town near the park. you could see the poverty and poor living conditions of the locals. and mind you, this was a nicer part of town.
